Here are some tips that may serve you better with the next physician:

Don’t waste my time with garbage like, "I am just calling to see what your situation is." Have a position that would potentially be a good fit.
Don’t call after 7pm local time.
Text or email with basic info on the position before you call me. Include pay rate, the position you need to fill, and some idea about location.
